Privacy policy

What information Shiklo collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 22 October 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to shiklo.com and to our products Shiklo Tools at tools.shiklo.com and Shiklo Programming at code.shiklo.com (together, the “Website”), operated by Shiklo (“we”, “us”, “our”).

1. Your files and text stay on your device

Every tool and code editor on the Website runs entirely inside your web browser. Files you open, text you type or paste, and programs you write are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers. We do not see, store, copy or share them.

2. Information we collect

We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address or other personal details to use our products. The only information processed is:

  • Technical log data: like any website, our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) automatically processes data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested and the date and time, to deliver the Website, prevent abuse and keep it secure.
  • Information stored in your browser: the Website saves some things in your browser's own storage so they are still there next time: a short list of the tools you used recently, your settings, and in Shiklo Programming your code projects. This never leaves your device, and you can delete it by clearing the site data in your browser.
  • Advertising data: our advertising partners (see section 4) may collect information through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Messages you send us: if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and use it only to reply to you.

3. How we use information

  • To provide, operate and secure the Website.
  • To understand and fix technical problems.
  • To show the advertising that keeps our products free.
  • To answer your messages.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never use your files, text or programs for any purpose.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

Our products are free because they show ads, provided by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent, through a Google-certified consent message, before cookies are used for personalised ads. If you do not consent, you may still see non-personalised ads. See our Cookie policy for details.

5. Legal basis (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process information on the basis of our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Website) and, for personalised advertising cookies, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

6. Sharing of information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Website, Cloudflare (hosting, delivery, security and email) and Google (advertising), or where required by law. These providers process information under their own privacy policies.

7. Data retention

We do not store your files, text or programs at all. Technical logs are kept by our providers only as long as needed for security and operation. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, the UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Apart from the advertising cookies described in section 4, which you can opt out of using the links there, we do not sell or share personal information. To make a request, contact us.

9. Children's privacy

The Website is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

The Website is served only over encrypted HTTPS. Because your files are processed on your own device, they are never transferred to or stored by us.

11. International visitors

Our service providers may process technical and advertising data in countries other than your own, using the safeguards required by law for such transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version.
